City Centre & Cathays
Neighbourhood policing is at the heart of our approach to keeping South Wales safe. Our PCSOs and officers are proud to be integral parts of the communities they serve.
We want to ensure our neighbourhood policing is as efficient and effective as it can be, and our aim is to be the best in the country at understanding and responding to the needs and priorities of each individual community. Your local neighbourhood policing team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area who are both visible and accessible.
Fundamental to our model of neighbourhood policing is engaging with our communities: connecting with individuals, organisations, businesses, schools, workplaces and others; working to understand, respond to, and tackle your concerns and priorities; and putting measures in place to prevent issues from escalating – or from occurring in the first place.
By working together and focusing on early intervention, prevention and problem solving, we can find long-term solutions to local problems.

Daily patrols are made by Central NPT and the Council Street Wardens to address ASB within the city centre. Business have highlight to neighbourhood officers a reduction in ASB. Several person's who have been responsible for ASB have been issued criminal protection notices preventing them from entraining the city centre. ASB will remain a priority for the neighbourhood team. Shoplifting (City Centre) Issued 30 June 2025 |
The Central Neighbourhood Policing Team have been working in partnership with retailors to reduce shoplifting and we are pleased to update you that shoplifting in the city centre has reduced by 40% year to date. We will continue work hard with our partners to address shoplifting and keep this a priority. Actioned 10 September 2025 |

Violence Against Women & Girls (City Centre) Issued 30 June 2025 |
The Central NPT Team work with both internal and external partners to address violence against women and girls in both the day and night time economies. Every weekend the Cardiff after Dark policing operation focuses on preventing crime against women and girls, we are supported in this operation by the NHS, Local Authority and For Cardiff, we will keep this a priority.
