Neighbourhood policing is at the heart of our approach to keeping South Wales safe. Our PCSOs and officers are proud to be integral parts of the communities they serve.
We want to ensure our neighbourhood policing is as efficient and effective as it can be, and our aim is to be the best in the country at understanding and responding to the needs and priorities of each individual community. Your local neighbourhood policing team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area who are both visible and accessible.
Fundamental to our model of neighbourhood policing is engaging with our communities: connecting with individuals, organisations, businesses, schools, workplaces and others; working to understand, respond to, and tackle your concerns and priorities; and putting measures in place to prevent issues from escalating – or from occurring in the first place.
By working together and focusing on early intervention, prevention and problem solving, we can find long-term solutions to local problems.

Following ongoing concerns regarding speeding, Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council has installed speed tables in the area. These traffic-calming measures are intended to reduce vehicle speeds and improve safety for residents in this densely populated residential location. Priority finalised. Actioned 07 September 2026 |

Speeding Vehicles - Swansea Road Issued 08 March 2026 |
We have been working with MTCBC Councillors. There are ongoing discussions are trying to secure funding for "Average Speed" cameras. Police are continuing with patrols and monitoring in the area however it is noted by both Police and public that when we are present - there is little/no issue but will then quickly revert to normal when we move on.
