Neighbourhood policing is at the heart of our approach to keeping South Wales safe. Our PCSOs and officers are proud to be integral parts of the communities they serve.
We want to ensure our neighbourhood policing is as efficient and effective as it can be, and our aim is to be the best in the country at understanding and responding to the needs and priorities of each individual community. Your local neighbourhood policing team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area who are both visible and accessible.
Fundamental to our model of neighbourhood policing is engaging with our communities: connecting with individuals, organisations, businesses, schools, workplaces and others; working to understand, respond to, and tackle your concerns and priorities; and putting measures in place to prevent issues from escalating – or from occurring in the first place.
By working together and focusing on early intervention, prevention and problem solving, we can find long-term solutions to local problems.

Although this has been greatly reduced due to proactive policing patrols involving uniform and plain clothes officers it is still a priority as it has the potential to return to previous levels if not managed and acted upon. A number of persons seen riding illegal suron bikes have been reported for driving offences and in some instances the bikes have been seized. Actioned 10 March 2026 |

Violent Crime Issued 10 December 2025 |
This remains a priority as although it has reduced over the last 6 months there are still occasional reports of violent crime that can be linked back to the drug supply issues in the area. Actioned 10 March 2026 |

Off-road bikes and drug dealing Issued 01 September 2025 |
Another successful partnership operation has taken place between neighbourhood teams and Cardiff councils off-road team. Operation Green Horizon aims to tackle the use of illegal bikes/scooters on green spaces and the highway around Cardiff. Hot spot locations were patrolled and bike seizures were seen across Penylan, Rumney, Llanrumney and Pentwyn. 3 illegal mechanically propelled vehicles (MPVs), 1 suron bike, 2 e-scooters and 1 vehicle was seized during the operation. X2 surons have been seized and taken off the streets of Pentwyn – 1 recovered from the woodland near Pentwyn Drive following a short foot chase by officers, the second from the Waun Fach area. This rider was also found in possession of a small amount of believed cocaine and has been reported for summons. Actioned 01 September 2025 |
