Neighbourhood policing is at the heart of our approach to keeping South Wales safe. Our PCSOs and officers are proud to be integral parts of the communities they serve.

We want to ensure our neighbourhood policing is as efficient and effective as it can be, and our aim is to be the best in the country at understanding and responding to the needs and priorities of each individual community. Your local neighbourhood policing team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area who are both visible and accessible.

Fundamental to our model of neighbourhood policing is engaging with our communities: connecting with individuals, organisations, businesses, schools, workplaces and others; working to understand, respond to, and tackle your concerns and priorities; and putting measures in place to prevent issues from escalating – or from occurring in the first place.

By working together and focusing on early intervention, prevention and problem solving, we can find long-term solutions to local problems.

Several arrests have taken place in August in relation to youths committing crime and causing ASB in the Bus Station.
A partnership approach is ongoing with additional resources patrolling the area.
Some youths have been issued community protection notices with exclusion zones attached, preventing them from attending the area.

Operation Viscaria continue to patrol the City Centre and have issued several dispersal notices for people to leave the area owing to alcohol related behaviour.
Operation Daylily and Operation Totara has provided an increased presence from police and partners patrol throughout the City Centre area resulting in a 6% reduction compared to last year

Criminal Behaviour Orders have been issued and amended to several perpetrators, limiting their attendance at specific stores.
Retail theft is down by 14% between June and August 2025 whilst nearly 45% of these reports have had a successful and positive outcome with the offender brought to justice
