Neighbourhood policing is at the heart of our approach to keeping South Wales safe. Our PCSOs and officers are proud to be integral parts of the communities they serve.
We want to ensure our neighbourhood policing is as efficient and effective as it can be, and our aim is to be the best in the country at understanding and responding to the needs and priorities of each individual community. Your local neighbourhood policing team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area who are both visible and accessible.
Fundamental to our model of neighbourhood policing is engaging with our communities: connecting with individuals, organisations, businesses, schools, workplaces and others; working to understand, respond to, and tackle your concerns and priorities; and putting measures in place to prevent issues from escalating – or from occurring in the first place.
By working together and focusing on early intervention, prevention and problem solving, we can find long-term solutions to local problems.

Retail Thefts particularly Aldi & B&M Issued 17 June 2025 |
Operation Darleston' is running between to tackle shoplifting and ASB in the Maesteg area. Targeted patrols of hotspot stores such as Aldi, B&M and Filco and Savers.What’s App group has been set up between retailers to provide early warning of shoplifters in the area which has been a great success. Retailers are able to alert other staff quickly in the hope of preventing theft incidents. Working with CSP regarding issuing ASB referrals, CBW’s and CBO’s for shoplifting. Actioned 17 June 2025 |
ASB Maesteg Town Centre Issued 17 June 2025 |
Operation Darleston' is running to tackle shoplifting and ASB. Increased high visual patrols in hotspot areas and retail premises in the town centre. Continued engagement with the community for reassurance.ASB referrals submitted when perpetrators identified. When children identified early on in the ASB process they are encouraged to attend the station with parent/guardians to try and prevent further ASB. Working with BCBC CCTV operators to identify early issues.. Actioned 17 June 2025 |
