Neighbourhood policing is at the heart of our approach to keeping South Wales safe. Our PCSOs and officers are proud to be integral parts of the communities they serve.
We want to ensure our neighbourhood policing is as efficient and effective as it can be, and our aim is to be the best in the country at understanding and responding to the needs and priorities of each individual community. Your local neighbourhood policing team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area who are both visible and accessible.
Fundamental to our model of neighbourhood policing is engaging with our communities: connecting with individuals, organisations, businesses, schools, workplaces and others; working to understand, respond to, and tackle your concerns and priorities; and putting measures in place to prevent issues from escalating – or from occurring in the first place.
By working together and focusing on early intervention, prevention and problem solving, we can find long-term solutions to local problems.
Please note that to report a crime or incident to South Wales Police, you can visit Home | South Wales Police or in an emergency, please dial 999.

Environmental concerns - fly-tipping Issued 17 June 2025 |
The Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to work closely with Cardiff Council and the Cleansing Team to address fly-tipping across Splott. Officers have requested multiple call-outs to clear dumped waste, including the removal of an individual who had camped under Splott Bridge and areas along Newport Road behind TGIF. Plans are in development with the council to relocate cameras to known hotspot locations to deter future incidents. Engagement with the community continues to raise awareness of reporting mechanisms and to reassure residents that environmental concerns are being actively managed. Actioned 17 September 2025 |

Parking concerns - schools Issued 17 June 2025 |
Parking around schools remains a focus, particularly during drop-off and pick-up periods. PCSOs have been attending at key times to encourage traffic flow and safe parking. While parking issues were less prominent over the summer holidays due to children being off school, the plan is to increase patrols over the autumn period to address the issue proactively. Engagement with parents, school staff, and residents supports safe practices and reduces congestion. Actioned 17 September 2025 |
