Neighbourhood policing is at the heart of our approach to keeping South Wales safe. Our PCSOs and officers are proud to be integral parts of the communities they serve.

We want to ensure our neighbourhood policing is as efficient and effective as it can be, and our aim is to be the best in the country at understanding and responding to the needs and priorities of each individual community. Your local neighbourhood policing team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area who are both visible and accessible.

Fundamental to our model of neighbourhood policing is engaging with our communities: connecting with individuals, organisations, businesses, schools, workplaces and others; working to understand, respond to, and tackle your concerns and priorities; and putting measures in place to prevent issues from escalating – or from occurring in the first place.

Speeding Issued 10 March 2026	Operation Atal has taken place in the Rumney area alongside GoSafe and South Wales Fire and Rescue service - The teams worked together to monitor vehicles and stopping those driving above the speed limit, not wearing a seatbelt and any other traffic related offences. 667 cars monitored 41 educated for speeding 6 issued seat belt advice 1 fined for excess speeding 1 summonsed for no license Engagement plays a crucial role in road safety. Those stopped are given an option of immediately attending an educational session with the Fire and Rescue Service or accepting a fixed penalty. Operation Green Horizon aims to tackle the use of illegal bikes/scooters on green spaces and the highway around Cardiff. August 2025 - Hot spot locations were patrolled and bike seizures were seen across Penylan, Rumney, Llanrumney and Pentwyn. 3 illegal mechanically propelled vehicles (MPVs), 1 suron bike, 2 e-scooters and 1 vehicle was seized during the operation. All will be sent for destruction November 2025 - A further 24 illegal e-bikes and e-scooters have been taken off the road thanks to another joint operation with Cardiff Council. A man tried to run off after being stopped riding a MPV on Lamby Way. A 62-year-old man from Trowbridge was arrested on suspicion of possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply. Off-road bikes and drug dealing Issued 17 June 2025	We have carried out high-visibility patrols in identified areas and worked with local councils and housing providers to address ASB. - A drugs warrant was executed at an address on Goodwick Road - A man was arrested for possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue. Two females who were also present at the address have been referred onto drug education courses. - During patrols a male was sighted on a suron bike in the area and stopped by officers. During the search, 68 wraps of crack cocaine, £297 cash and x2 mobile phones were recovered. The male has been arrested for possession with intent to supply (PWITS) Class A drugs and suron bike seized. - An operation took place in the area, specifically targeting off-road bikes/e-bikes and drug dealing. A police operated drone was deployed as part of the operation to assist in locating and detaining these bikes. As a result, 4 illegal bikes and 3 scooters have been seized. All 7 will join the queue to be crushed and destroyed, permanently removing them off the streets. Actioned 01 September 2025
