Neighbourhood policing is at the heart of our approach to keeping South Wales safe. Our PCSOs and officers are proud to be integral parts of the communities they serve.

We want to ensure our neighbourhood policing is as efficient and effective as it can be, and our aim is to be the best in the country at understanding and responding to the needs and priorities of each individual community. Your local neighbourhood policing team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area who are both visible and accessible.

Fundamental to our model of neighbourhood policing is engaging with our communities: connecting with individuals, organisations, businesses, schools, workplaces and others; working to understand, respond to, and tackle your concerns and priorities; and putting measures in place to prevent issues from escalating – or from occurring in the first place.

By working together and focusing on early intervention, prevention and problem solving, we can find long-term solutions to local problems.

Road Safety Issued 11 June 2026	We have continued to carry out school parking patrols outside Lakeside and Rhydypenau primary schools and on the surrounding streets, suitably advising drivers to park responsibly and carrying out enforcement action where necessary by way of fixed penalty notices. We have also joined our fire service colleagues for road safety operations in the Cyncoed, Heath, Rhiwbina and Thornhill areas. The operations promote road safety to motorists on driving between 26-31mph on 20mph roads. Motorists are given the option to attend a short presentation from the Fire Service during the stop. Penalty notices are considered for anyone driving more than 32mph, or those who decline the presentation. If the same drivers are caught speeding again then they are dealt with by way of a fixed penalty notice. The operation also focusses on seat belts, and the use of mobile phones. Seat belts apply to both drivers and passengers. Again, those caught are given the option to attend a short presentation from the Fire Service during the stop. Penalty notices are considered for anyone caught again. Members of the team are qualified to check and fit child car seats from babies to teenagers in booster seats. These checks are offered to any drivers stopped during the operation. Other offences dealt with during these operations have included driving without insurance and/or a driving licence, no MOT/vehicle tax, taking a vehicle without the owner’s permission and various vehicle defects. This has resulted in drivers being either summonsed to court or issued fixed penalty notices. The operation will continue sporadically throughout the sector. Actioned 11 September 2026
Road Safety Issued 10 March 2026	Operation Atal has taken place in the Cyncoed area alongside GoSafe and South Wales Fire and Rescue service - The teams worked together to monitor vehicles and stopping those driving above the speed limit, not wearing a seatbelt and any other traffic related offences. 419 cars monitored 52 educated for speeding 4 issued seat belt advice 1 fined for excess speeding Engagement plays a crucial role in road safety. Stills from CCTV were shared with local schools, which was key in leading to the identification of many youths, some of which had repeatedly been causing issues at the site. For those identified, ASB referrals have been submitted and warning letters served. The University has also undergone a programme to improve security measures. Over the school summer holidays the University ran a Youth Sports Inclusion programme; the University approached schools in the local community to offer this programme to their students; in return the students were expected to respect both the site and staff; this has helped in building and improving relations with youths. Several others have been identified through CCTV and subsequently issued warning letters through the ASB process. There were reports of a homeless person causing ASB issues in the park area, who was subsequently identified and dealt with through the ASB process. This person was also referred for support.
