Neighbourhood policing is at the heart of our approach to keeping South Wales safe. Our PCSOs and officers are proud to be integral parts of the communities they serve.

We want to ensure our neighbourhood policing is as efficient and effective as it can be, and our aim is to be the best in the country at understanding and responding to the needs and priorities of each individual community. Your local neighbourhood policing team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area who are both visible and accessible.

Fundamental to our model of neighbourhood policing is engaging with our communities: connecting with individuals, organisations, businesses, schools, workplaces and others; working to understand, respond to, and tackle your concerns and priorities; and putting measures in place to prevent issues from escalating – or from occurring in the first place.

By working together and focusing on early intervention, prevention and problem solving, we can find long-term solutions to local problems.

Shoplifting - Windsor Road Issued 16 March 2026	PCSO’s have reduced the time it takes for CCTV to be obtained for Officers to be able to ID the offenders. PCSO’s have been working along side MRS Communications to set up a new scheme called shopnet. This scheme links all the Penarth business including the Police to a radio system to communicate between one another to tackle shoplifting. We will carry on with regular meetings with the local shops. Actioned 16 June 2026
Shoplifting - Windsor Road Issued 15 December 2025	Regular meetings with shop managers to encourage reporting to South Wales Police via 101. In March we are hosting the first Business Watch meeting with the Vale Council to encourage open conversations relating to shoplifting. Weekly ward walks with The newly appointed Council Warden are taking place to check-in on the local businesses. There is an Operation in place to tackle shoplifting. This will include plain clothes operations and hi-visibility patrols. Actioned 16 March 2026
