Neighbourhood policing is at the heart of our approach to keeping South Wales safe. Our PCSOs and officers are proud to be integral parts of the communities they serve.

We want to ensure our neighbourhood policing is as efficient and effective as it can be, and our aim is to be the best in the country at understanding and responding to the needs and priorities of each individual community. Your local neighbourhood policing team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area who are both visible and accessible.

Fundamental to our model of neighbourhood policing is engaging with our communities: connecting with individuals, organisations, businesses, schools, workplaces and others; working to understand, respond to, and tackle your concerns and priorities; and putting measures in place to prevent issues from escalating – or from occurring in the first place.

By working together and focusing on early intervention, prevention and problem solving, we can find long-term solutions to local problems.

Shoplifting & Retail crime Issued 13 June 2026	We continue to take positive and robust action against those identified in committing shoplifting offences. In recent weeks several prolific shoplifters have been identified, arrested and charged to court. One of the more prolific offenders was recently sentenced to a 6-month custodial sentence after being charged with 8 shoplifting offences and a breach of their Community Behaviour Order. We have carried out high-visibility patrols in identified areas. Regular engagement with all business within the retail park who all have contact details for local officers. Off-road bikes Issued 13 June 2026	We have seized illegal vehicles and taken enforcement action. Work ongoing to gather information and intelligence to identify those responsible for using the off-road bikes in the local community, partner agencies being liaised with to address these concerns and for positive action to be taken. A new force wide imitative aimed at tacking the use of illegal bikes, including e-bikes and off-road bikes, has been launched – Op Grebe. The campaign will be visible across the force area and online via social media and our website, which contains a bespoke reporting tool for illegal bike use. Actioned 25 September 2026

Off-road bikes Issued 19 March 2026	Operation Akalat was conducted on the 24/04/26 in the Swansea area. This is a continuation of previous operations which cracks down on the illegal and anti-social use of off-road bikes, and stolen vehicles. Utilising NPAS fixed Wing aircraft officers sighted numerous off-road/illegal bikes around Swansea which were then followed by NPAS fixed wing aircraft until they could be safely apprehended by officers on the ground. As part of the operation 16 x motorcycles / surrons / offroad bikes were seized – 8 of which were from the Penderry area. The riders identified were reported for driving offences. We have seized illegal vehicles and taken enforcement action. We have issued Section 59 notices and seizure warnings for vehicles. Work ongoing to gather information and intelligence to identify those responsible for using the off road bikes in the local community, partner agencies being liaised with to address these concerns and for positive action to be taken.
