Neighbourhood policing is at the heart of our approach to keeping South Wales safe. Our PCSOs and officers are proud to be integral parts of the communities they serve.

We want to ensure our neighbourhood policing is as efficient and effective as it can be, and our aim is to be the best in the country at understanding and responding to the needs and priorities of each individual community. Your local neighbourhood policing team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area who are both visible and accessible.

Fundamental to our model of neighbourhood policing is engaging with our communities: connecting with individuals, organisations, businesses, schools, workplaces and others; working to understand, respond to, and tackle your concerns and priorities; and putting measures in place to prevent issues from escalating – or from occurring in the first place.

By working together and focusing on early intervention, prevention and problem solving, we can find long-term solutions to local problems.

"All on Board" Partnership with Heol Emrys

An ‘All Aboard’ event was held in the Heol Emrys estate on the 4th July which was well attended by both local residents and partner agencies.
The next ‘All Aboard’ event is being arranged for the 23rd October.
An Op Perception survey was conducted on the estate on the 22nd July – there was good engagement from local residents with 82 surveys being completed.

Off-road bikes

Several off-road bikes seized in the last three months.
Positive action taken against riders who have been identified.
Residents have been kept up to date via Soth Walea Listens messaging.
Work ongoing to gather information and intelligence to identify those responsible for using the off road bikes in the local community, partner agencies being liaised with to address these concerns and for positive action to be taken.

Antisocial behaviour - Broughton Avenue

We have carried out high-visibility patrols in identified areas. We have liaised with partner agencies to address the concerns via problem solving.
Overtime patrols conducted over the summer period specifically targeting the area which has been of great benefit and resulted in positive action being taken in relationship to persons causing ASB and committing other offences.
A positive warrant was executed on Broughton Avenue in August where a large cannabis factory was discovered, a male subject was arrested, charged and remanded.
Kick sessions continue at the MUGA everyone Thursday evening where PCSO’s attend and engage with youths and the local community.

Shoplifting & Retail crime

We have carried out high-visibility patrols in identified areas.
Regular engagement with all business within the retail park who all have contact details for local officers.
Retail Park Meetings regularly held, whereby representatives from all stores are invited, to discuss any issues with Police.
Positive action taken against any shoplifters identified – in recent months several prolific shoplifters have been identified, arrested, charged and received custodial sentences.
