TRICK OR TREAT? KEEP IT SAFE THIS HALLOWEEN
Halloween is nearly here! Whether you're heading out with the little ones or meeting friends for a night of spooky fun, here are some top tips to help keep everyone safe;
STICK TOGETHER -Younger children should always be accompanied by a responsible adult. Older children should stay with friends and agree on a route and a time to be back home.
BE SEEN - Wear something bright or reflective and carry a torch. Make sure costumes don't trail on the ground or obstruct your vision.
ROAD SAFETY FIRST- Use pavements and cross at safe crossing points. Stop, look and listen before crossing and avoid distractions.
TRICK OR TREAT RESPONSIBLY- Only visit homes displaying Halloween decorations or welcoming trick-or-treaters. Never enter a stranger's home, and respect anyone who doesn't wish to take part.
CHECK THOSE TREATS-Adults should check sweets and treats before children eat them, particularly if packaging is damaged or opened.
COSTUME SAFETY- Take care with masks that restrict vision and choose flame-resistant costumes where possible. Keep costumes and decorations away from naked flames.
HAVE A PLAN- Make sure children know what to do if they get separated, who to contact in an emergency and how to call 999 if someone is in danger and 101 for non emergency.
Let's all play our part in making Halloween frighteningly fun for the right reasons.
Stay safe, look out for each other and have a spooktacular Halloween.
