Dispersal Order authorised in Barry Following Further Anti-Social Behaviour. Officers have been granted additional powers to direct individuals to leave the King Square area of Barry following further incidents of anti-social behaviour. The dispersal order authorised under Section 34 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 will be in place from 5pm today (Wednesday, October 14th) until 3am on Thursday, October 15th. South Wales Police is working closely with key partners including Vale of Glamorgan Council, education and other agencies to address the ongoing concerns and safeguard the local community. Following enquiries, a number of individuals believed to be involved have been identified. Preventative measures are being implemented and criminal investigations will be pursued where evidence links individuals to criminal activity. Sergeant Andrew Nealon of South Wales Police said: "Everyone has the right to feel safe wherever they are and nobody should be subjected to threats, verbal abuse or anti-social behaviour. We continue to urge parents and guardians to speak with their children about the consequences of becoming involved in this type of behaviour, to be aware of who they are associating with and to know where they are spending their time. We are committed to working with our partners to address these issues and ensure that King Square remains a safe and welcoming place for everyone." Directed patrols will continue throughout the duration of the dispersal order and a partnership approach to tackling anti-social behaviour in the area remains ongoing. Anyone with information relating to criminal activity or anti-social behaviour in the area is encouraged to contact South Wales Police via 101, live chat, or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
