Crime prevention messageSouth Wales Police officers have been hitting the streets of Penarth and Llantwit Major to raise awareness of rogue traders and doorstep crime. Officers teamed up with Trading Standards yesterday (Thursday, November 13) to check on individuals and businesses seen working on properties. During these checks paperwork is inspected, and residents spoken to about work that has been agreed, We hope this operation sends a clear message to rogue traders that we will not tolerate vulnerable people being targeted by such scams and doorstep crime. Residents can feel reassured that we are committed to driving such traders out of the Vale. Rogue Traders will charge for work that is either not needed, not complete, or done to a poor standard. Rogue Traders often target elderly or vulnerable customers and will use forceful tactics and intimidation to secure work. People are urged to look out for elderly and vulnerable neighbours and relatives.
