Operation Bang - Bonfire Night

Officers in Pontprennau, Llanrumney & St Mellons have been given extra powers to prevent gatherings, illegal use of fireworks and associated anti-social behaviour over the Bonfire period.

This is a preventative measure following reports of fireworks being set off in residential streets, exploding near members of the public and into shops.

A 24-hour dispersal order, which is granted under Section 35 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014, is in place from 9am today (Wednesday, November 5) until 9am tomorrow.

Under Section 35 of the act, police officers can instruct anybody who is causing, or is likely to cause harassment, alarm, or distress to leave the area as illustrated in the attached maps.

These powers have been extended to include youths between the ages of 10-16 in the following areas:
