Please see the below feedback of an overview of incidents reported between the 20/01/2024 and the 15/05/2025.
Anti-social behaviour
03/03/2025 – Back of Ysgol Afon wen- Rock thrown at property (no damage caused) – Due to the location no CCTV in the vicinity unfortunately however Ysgol Afon Wen spoken to who have educated their pupils in class assembly. No further reports since.
13/03/2025 – Two persons causing issues in Premier shop, Ynyscorrwg road – Persons spoken spoken to and appropriate action taken. No further reports since.
16/03/2025 – ASB/Hate crime unknown person has graffitied the walls in the under pass that runs under the A470, Hawthorn Crescent with inappropriate offensive language – No person ID unfortunately due to the remote location/unknown time frame. Regular patrols will continue in the area going forward.
22/03/2025 – Persons lighting fires/identified – Hawthorn playing fields – Appropriate action taken.
01/05/2025 – Unknown persons lighting fires No person id. Hawthorn playing fields. Fire service attended no person's present.
Drugs
11/04/2025 – Hawthorn playing fields by river – Two persons smoking cannabis. One male found in possession of cannabis – appropriate action taken. Regular patrols are being carried out in the area to help deter further issues.
Damage/Road related
19/01/2025- Off road bike Operation - Heol-Y-Bwnsi – One male arrested for assault on an emergency worker, possession of cannabis, riding without due care and attention and off road bike seized.
11/02/2025 – Upper Boat. Person caught driving without insurance – Person sent to court.
14/03/2025 – Ynyscorrwg Road, RTC - Medical episode.
1 Operation snap report to Go Safe – Use of mobile phone whilst in charge of a vehicle – Fine issued and points on licence. Upper Boat.
07/05/2025 – Person caught driving with no insurance – Summons to court and vehicle seized.
Theft
1 Theft from Farmfoods – Evidential difficulties.
2 Theft from Tesco, Upper Boat – under investigation.
1 Iceland, Midway Retail Park - Under investigation.
3 One Beyond, Midway Retail Park – Under investigation.
Speeding
The cameras on Cardiff Road Hawthorn are live 24HRS a day and is a 20mph speed zone.
On the back of community concerns and working in close partnership with GO SAFE, further speed measurements will be continuing at Williams’s place, Upper Boat. The speed bike is continuing to attend William’s place on an ad hoc basis.

Parking complaints
1 Obstruction – Hawthorn Crescent - Officers attended and appropriate action taken.
Lines and signs parking issues for example parking on double yellow lines should be reported to the Highways department in the council on the below link -
