Recently we have received a number of calls relating to garden fires and reports of children lighting fires

in a grassy wooded area in the Sketty area.

We are monitoring the area closely and have advised any witnesses to report immediately.

If you must have a fire in your garden ( controlled burn), please follow the guidelines below:

* Ensure you have sufficient people and equipment to control the fire.

* Check wind direction and ensure there is no risk to property, roads or wildlife.

* It is illegal to leave a fire unattended.

* always make sure the fire is completely out, and had not reignited.

* You should only burn dry organic garden waste or clean wood.

Never burn household rubbish, rubber tyres, anything containing foam or plastic, treated wood or paint.

When weather is dry, it is easy for fires to spread.

Be cautious and enjoy the fine weather safely,  without incident
