BILINGUAL MESSAGE / NEGES DWYIEITHOG

Hello Resident

On April 8th, 2025, following intelligence suggesting the involvement of several dogs in the commission of an offence under Section 4 of the Animal Welfare Act (which makes it illegal to cause unnecessary suffering to a protected animal), warrants were executed at three separate addresses in Merthyr. The operation was carried out in collaboration with the RSPCA.

As a result of the raid, 18 dogs, each in varying conditions, were seized for further investigation. Additionally, a male suspect was arrested under both Section 4 and Section 9 of the Animal Welfare Act, the latter of which pertains to the duty of care owed to animals. The individual was subsequently dealt with by the RSPCA in relation to these offences.

This successful operation highlights the continued commitment of South Wales Police and animal welfare organisations to ensure the protection of animals from cruelty and mistreatment. We hope that even though these dogs were taken from the only homes they knew, they will now have a future where they are loved, safe, and free from harm.

We can, and as above regularly do, act upon the information provided to us by the public, so please keep it coming and continue to work with us.

Shwmae Resident

Ar 8 Ebrill, 2025, yn dilyn cudd-wybodaeth yn awgrymu bod sawl ci wedi cymryd rhan mewn cyflawni trosedd o dan Adran 4 o’r Ddeddf Lles Anifeiliaid (sy’n ei gwneud yn anghyfreithlon i achosi dioddefaint diangen i anifail gwarchodedig), gweithredwyd gwarantau mewn tri chyfeiriad gwahanol ym Merthyr. Cyflawnwyd y gweithrediad mewn cydweithrediad â'r RSPCA.

O ganlyniad i’r cyrch, atafaelwyd 18 ci, pob un mewn amodau amrywiol, i ymchwilio ymhellach iddynt. Yn ogystal, arestiwyd dyn a ddrwgdybir o dan Adran 4 ac Adran 9 o'r Ddeddf Lles Anifeiliaid, ac mae'r olaf yn ymwneud â'r ddyletswydd gofal sy'n ddyledus i anifeiliaid. Ymdriniwyd â’r unigolyn wedyn gan yr RSPCA mewn perthynas â’r troseddau hyn.

Mae’r ymgyrch lwyddiannus hon yn amlygu ymrwymiad parhaus Heddlu De Cymru a sefydliadau lles anifeiliaid i sicrhau bod anifeiliaid yn cael eu hamddiffyn rhag creulondeb a chamdriniaeth. Er bod y cŵn hyn wedi’u cymryd o’r unig gartrefi roedden nhw’n eu hadnabod, rydyn ni’n gobeithio y bydd ganddyn nhw ddyfodol nawr lle maen nhw’n cael eu caru, yn ddiogel, ac yn rhydd rhag niwed.

Gallwn, ac fel yr uchod yn rheolaidd, gweithredu ar y wybodaeth a ddarperir i ni gan y cyhoedd, felly cadwch hi i ddod a pharhau i weithio gyda ni.
