Hot Weather Safety Tips

To stay safe during hot weather prioritize staying cool in-doors, drinking plenty of fluids, wearing light clothing and seeking shade during the hottest hours.

Staying Cool Indoors;

* Cool Down : Take showers or baths and consider using a spray bottle or damp sponge to cool your skin.

* Use Fans : Electrical fans can help if temperature is below 35 degrees.

* Limit Oven Use : Reduce the temperature in your home  by using the oven less.

* Check On Others : Check on family members, older adults and neighbours especially those whom are more vulnerable to heat.

Staying Safe Outdoors;

* Seek Shade : If you have to go outside, stay in the shade, especially between 11am and 3pm when the sun is strongest.

* Wear Protective Clothing : Wear light loose-fitting light coloured clothing.

* Sun Protection : Wear a hat and sunscreen to protect your skin and eyes.

* Hydrate : Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated even if you don't feel thirsty.

* Avoid Dehydrating Drinks : Try to avoid alcohol, caffeine and hot drinks.
