Unfortunately, we've had a spate of vehicle crime; both theft of and theft from motor vehicle in the Cyncoed and Lakeside areas. 

Please can we remember to lock our vehicles, not to leave any valuables in our vehicles and to lock away our keys, preferably in a faraday box. Faraday boxes can be purchased on online platforms such as Amazon for those who are looking to purchase one. 

Criminals are primarily targeting keyless entry vehicles whereby they use a signal copier to copy the signal from the key and gain entry to the vehicle, however, criminals do not limit themselves to these types of cars. 

Fiesta's and Range Rovers are at the top of the list when it comes to theft of motor vehicles in recent times. Fiestas mainly being due to their discontinuance; criminals are stealing the cars, dismantling them and selling on the car parts. 

Some crime prevention advice from myself would be to use a steering lock, block your Fiestas/Range Rovers in using another vehicle (if your family has more than one car), make sure your CCTV/Ring doorbells are working/turned on/charged and if you don't have any CCTV, consider purchasing some (even dummy cameras can be a deterrent and they are much cheaper). Always remember to lock your vehicles and hide the keys away, preferably in a faraday box. And finally, please do not leave any valuables in your vehicle.
