Fire Safety

Keep candles at least 12 inches away from anything that burns and never leave them unattended. Consider using battery-operated candles. Check holiday light cords for damage and don't overload electrical outlets. If you have an artificial tree, look for a fire-resistant label.

Trip Hazards

Keep clutter to a minimum and be careful of trailing cables and wires.

Driving

Don't drink and drive and plan long journeys so you're not tired. Pack supplies for holiday traffic.

Shopping

Shop with friends or relatives, and keep your purse/wallet/mobile phone close to your body. Avoid arguments over items, and don't flash a lot of cash.
