This week South Wales Police have been focusing on County Lines and Child Exploitation awareness. 

Child exploitation refers to the grooming or manipulation of children for various purposes, including labour, trafficking or sexual exploitation. One specific aspect of this issue is County Lines, a term used to describe the practice where Organised Crime Gangs, OCG's, use children as young as 12 years old, to transport and sell drugs across different counties, mainly using public transport such as railway systems. 

These young people are victims, not criminals!

Young people can be groomed by OCG members who initially provide them with high-priced goods such as gaming consoles or branded clothing to create a sense of loyalty and dependency. This Grooming possess often involves building a friendship where the young person feels indebted to the OCG's for these gifts.

However, when the victims try to distance themselves or tries to leave the group, the OCG groomers can use these gifts as leverage and threaten the victims with violence stating that they owe money for the items they were given and make the victims continue to deal/ transport drugs to pay back the money they spent on the victims. 

This manipulation reinforces the victims ties to the group and makes it difficult for them to escape the cycle of exploitation.

Yr wythnos hon mae Heddlu De Cymru wedi bod yn canolbwyntio ar ymwybyddiaeth Llinellau Sirol a Chamfanteisio ar Blant.

Mae camfanteisio ar blant yn cyfeirio at feithrin neu drin plant at wahanol ddibenion, gan gynnwys llafur, masnachu mewn pobl neu gamfanteisio rhywiol. Un agwedd benodol ar y mater hwn yw County Lines, term a ddefnyddir i ddisgrifio’r arfer lle mae Gangiau Troseddau Cyfundrefnol, OCG’s, yn defnyddio plant mor ifanc â 12 oed, i gludo a gwerthu cyffuriau ar draws gwahanol siroedd, gan ddefnyddio trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus yn bennaf megis systemau rheilffordd.

Dioddefwyr yw'r bobl ifanc hyn, nid troseddwyr!

Gall pobl ifanc gael eu paratoi gan aelodau OCG sydd i ddechrau yn darparu nwyddau pris uchel iddynt fel consolau gemau neu ddillad brand i greu ymdeimlad o deyrngarwch a dibyniaeth. Mae'r Grooming hwn yn aml yn golygu meithrin cyfeillgarwch lle mae'r person ifanc yn teimlo'n ddyledus i'r OCG's am yr anrhegion hyn.

Fodd bynnag, pan fydd y dioddefwyr yn ceisio ymbellhau neu’n ceisio gadael y grŵp, gall groomers OCG ddefnyddio’r rhoddion hyn fel trosoledd a bygwth y dioddefwyr â thrais gan nodi bod arnynt arian am yr eitemau a roddwyd iddynt a gwneud i’r dioddefwyr barhau i ddelio/ cludo cyffuriau i ad-dalu'r arian a wariwyd ganddynt ar y dioddefwyr.

Mae'r driniaeth hon yn atgyfnerthu cysylltiadau'r dioddefwyr â'r grŵp ac yn ei gwneud yn anodd iddynt ddianc rhag y cylch camfanteisio.
