Dear Resident,
I have observed many builder's fliers in the area during my patrols around Lisvane and Thornhill. If you're thinking about hiring these builders to carry out any work on your property, please be aware. I have already received complaints from residents who have contacted the builders using the provided contact details on the flyers. Some of the residents said the work was not of good standards, and they were overcharged. The builders may say to you, they want to send up a drone to have a look at your roof as they know for a fact there is no way for you to confirm if what they are telling you about your roof is through or false.
If this had happened to you or someone you know, could you please let me know.
This is a serious issue in the community, please be aware and do not let anyone you don’t know or never seen before do any work on your property for you. If they knock on your door and you say you are not interested, shut your door soon after. Do not engage in any further conversation with them. If you did decide to allow them to carry out work, make sure to get every bit of their details such as their vehicle registration number, first and last name, their full address and a contact phone number. If they give you their mobile phone number, make sure to ring it while they are with you to see if they are going to answer. If they give you a land line number, call it and ask for the person by their first and last name that they have provided you with. Please be mindful if you see them carrying out work on your neighbour’s property and they are knocking on your door wanting to do work. Even though they are working on your neighbour’s property, follow the steps above as you haven't seen them before. They may do a good job at your neighbour’s house, but it doesn't necessarily mean they will do the same for you.
Any question you may have please feel free to get in contact with me by responding to this message.
