We have been working hard in the Swansea City area targeting illegal shisha bars.

Recently officers have led a multi-agency operation which was carried out in September 2024 and has resulted in the closure of two Shisha bars on St Helens Road, Swansea. The late evening warrant was an excellent example of partnership working and included Police Officers and officers from Fire Service, Local Authority, Immigration and Trading Standards. Following numerous intelligence reports regarding drug misuse, non-licensed alcohol sales, safety fears and sexual exploitation and incidents being reported by local businesses and residents,  meticulous planning culminated in the premises being shut down with a prohibition notice served by the Fire Service. One male was arrested for being concerned in the supply of class B drugs and was subsequently charged and remanded by the courts. 

The disruption is significant and safeguards those people who were visiting the location and potentially being exploited. Along with the arrest of the male, and the prohibition notice being served by the Fire Service, items were seized by Trading Standards including the CCTV system, large quantities of alcohol and shisha equipment. The premises was also deemed to have serious failings in relation to health and safety regulations. 

Inspector Andrew Hedley of the Swansea Neighbourhood Team said “The operation took weeks of planning in relation to complicated layouts of the premises and ensuring the correct organisations and internal departments were present. The results speak for themselves and demonstrate the true force of partnership working when faced with a problem. The closure of the premises and disruption to the illegal activity is significant and provides safeguarding to those people who attended.”

Rydym wedi bod yn gweithio'n galed yn Ardal Dinas Abertawe yn targedu Bariau Shisha anghyfreithlon

Yn ddiweddar mae swyddogion wedi arwain gwaith amlasiantaeth a gynhaliwyd ym mis Medi 2024 ac sydd wedi arwain at gau dau far Shisha ar Heol San Helen, Abertawe. Roedd gwarant hwyr y nos yn enghraifft wych o weithio mewn partneriaeth ac roedd yn cynnwys Swyddogion yr Heddlu a swyddogion o'r Gwasanaeth Tân, Awdurdod Lleol, Mewnfudo a Safonau Masnach. Yn dilyn nifer o adroddiadau cudd-wybodaeth ynghylch camddefnyddio cyffuriau, gwerthu alcohol heb drwydded, ofnau diogelwch a chamfanteisio rhywiol a digwyddiadau sy'n cael eu hadrodd gan fusnesau a phreswylwyr lleol, arweiniodd cynllunio manwl at gau'r safle gyda hysbysiad gwahardd a gyflwynwyd gan y Gwasanaeth Tân. Cafodd un dyn ei arestio am fod yn bryderus wrth gyflenwi cyffuriau dosbarth B ac yna cafodd ei gyhuddo a'i gadw gan y llysoedd.

Mae'r tarfu yn sylweddol ac yn diogelu'r bobl hynny a oedd yn ymweld â'r lleoliad ac a allai gael eu hecsbloetio. Ynghyd ag arestio'r gwryw, a'r hysbysiad gwahardd a gyflwynwyd gan y Gwasanaeth Tân, atafaelwyd eitemau gan Safonau Masnach gan gynnwys y system CCTV, meintiau mawr o alcohol ac offer shisha. Ystyriwyd hefyd bod gan y safle fethiannau difrifol mewn perthynas â rheoliadau iechyd a diogelwch. 

Dywedodd yr Arolygydd Andrew Hedley o Dîm Cymdogaeth Abertawe "Fe gymerodd y llawdriniaeth wythnosau o gynllunio mewn perthynas â chynlluniau cymhleth y safle a sicrhau bod y sefydliadau cywir a'r adrannau mewnol yn bresennol. Mae'r canlyniadau'n siarad drostynt eu hunain ac yn dangos gwir rym gweithio mewn partneriaeth wrth wynebu problem. Mae cau'r safle a'r tarfu ar y gweithgaredd anghyfreithlon yn arwyddocaol ac yn diogelu pobl a fynychodd
