Rct Trading Standards have received reports of rogue traders offering garden, driveway and building work in Rct. These traders often ask for payment up front without returning to complete the agreed work.

Our advice to residents remains the same NEVER feel pressured to agree to work on your doorstep or provide money upfront. Only agree to work after taking time to consider the following:

Is the work being offered necessary and can you afford it.

Do your family and friends agree that this work is required? Do they agree that the trader is trustworthy?

Is the quote a reasonable price for the work being offered? 

Does the trader have a good reputation locally? Are online reviews available from reputable websites?

If you suspect a rogue trader is at your door, report this to the police by calling 101. In a emergency call 999
