Gweld Fi / See Me Campaign

See Me Campaign

Hello Resident

Gweld Fi / See Me is a new campaign created by South Wales Police is highlighting incidents of violence against women and girls, with victims and survivors sharing their own experiences to encourage everyone to stand against all forms of abuse.

The aim is to educate on sign spotting and encourage reporting, with an emphasis on the fact that it’s everyone’s responsibility to call this behaviour out, whether it’s domestic violence or abuse, controlling and coercive behaviour, sexual violence, intimidation, stalking and harassment, catcalling, revenge porn or unwanted touching.

New data has found at least 1 in every 12 women will be a victim of VAWG related crimes per year, with the exact number expected to be much higher.*

Assistant Chief Constable Joanna Maal said: “Violence against women and girls is a matter of priority for South Wales Police.

“We want all women and girls who live, work, socialise or study in South Wales to not only be safe, but to feel safe, whether that is in public spaces, at home or online.

“Women and girls should be able to live confidently, without feeling frightened, intimidated, or harassed.

“Our new campaign, See Me, has been developed to ultimately reduce incidents of violence, harassment, and abuse. We have worked with a group of extremely brave women who have shared their stories to encourage other victims to come forward or seek support if they don’t feel ready to report.”

Our See Me Website page holds real stories from victims and survivors of domestic abuse across South Wales who have been brave in working with us and telling their stories to encourage others to speak out. The page also includes, advice linking to pages such as Clare’s Law, support lines and different ways of reporting.

If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence, please report it. If you’re not ready to speak to the police yet, there are other ways of getting help.

Ymgyrch newydd a grëwyd gan Heddlu De Cymru yw Gweld Fi / See Me er mwyn tynnu sylw at achosion o drais yn erbyn menywod a merched gyda goroeswyr yn rhannu eu profiadau eu hunain er mwyn annog pawb i wrthwynebu pob math o gamdriniaeth.

Y nod yw dysgu pobl sut i adnabod yr arwyddion a'u hannog i roi gwybod am achosion, gyda phwyslais ar y ffaith bod cyfrifoldeb ar bawb i herio'r ymddygiad hwn, boed yn drais neu'n gam-drin domestig, yn ymddygiad rheolaethol neu orfodaethol, trais rhywiol, bygwth, stelcio ac aflonyddu, chwibanu, pornograffi dial neu gyffwrdd digroeso.

Mae data newydd wedi darganfod y bydd o leiaf 1 o bob 12 menyw yn dioddef troseddau sy'n gysylltiedig â thrais yn erbyn menywod a merched bob blwyddyn, a disgwylir bod yr union nifer yn llawer uwch.*

Dywedodd y Prif Gwnstabl Cynorthwyol Joanna Maal: “Mae trais yn erbyn menywod a merched yn flaenoriaeth i Heddlu De Cymru.

“Rydym am i'r holl fenywod a merched sy'n byw, yn gweithio, yn cymdeithasu neu'n astudio yn Ne Cymru i fod yn ddiogel, ond hefyd i deimlo'n ddiogel, boed hynny mewn mannau cyhoeddus, gartref neu ar-lein.

“Dylai menywod a merched allu byw yn hyderus, heb deimlo ofn a heb i unrhyw un eu bygwth nac aflonyddu arnynt.

“Mae ein hymgyrch newydd, Gweld Fi, wedi cael ei datblygu gyda'r nod o leihau achosion o drais, aflonyddu a cham-drin yn y pen draw. Rydym wedi gweithio gyda grŵp o fenywod hynod ddewr sydd wedi rhannu eu straeon er mwyn annog dioddefwyr eraill i gysylltu neu geisio cymorth os nad ydynt yn teimlo'n barod i roi gwybod am achos.”

Mae ein tudalen ar gyfer ymgyrch Gweld Fi yn cynnwys straeon go iawn gan ddioddefwyr a goroeswyr cam-drin domestig ledled De Cymru sydd wedi bod yn ddewr wrth weithio gyda ni a rhannu eu straeon er mwyn annog eraill i gysylltu â ni. Mae'r dudalen hefyd yn cynnwys cyngor gyda dolenni i dudalennau megis Cyfraith Clare, llinellau cymorth a ffyrdd gwahanol o roi gwybod am ddigwyddiad.

Os ydych chi, neu rywun rydych yn ei adnabod, yn dioddef cam-drin domestig, rhowch wybod amdano. Os nad ydych chi'n barod i siarad â'r heddlu eto, mae ffyrdd eraill o gael cymorth.
